What if nobody enters your contest: budget and refund

You lose nothing but the time you spent writing it. A contest that closes with zero valid entries hands a wallet-backed budget straight back to your available balance, leaves your organizer rating untouched and asks nothing of you to make that happen. What is worth reading next is which budget comes back and which was never held in the first place.

What happens to the budget ​

In a wallet-backed contest the money was charged from your available balance at creation and tied to that contest, so it returns to that balance in full when the contest reaches its final state. Nothing to file, nothing to chase.

A contest without a locked pool is different: the platform never held anything, so there is no refund to queue. You simply never paid.

Item prizes were never physically held by DareBay either, so there is nothing to return; you simply keep the item.

What happens to fees ​

Creating a contest and topping up its budget currently carry a 0% fee across fiat, USDT and COINS, so there is no separate “processing share” or “feed-placement share” to refund. The final report shows the unused budget returned. Store purchases and a later balance withdrawal are different operations with their own current terms.

Your rating does not drop ​

Zero submissions does not hurt your organizer rating. It happens for honest reasons: a narrow topic, a short deadline, a prize that does not match the effort. The rating only moves when something went wrong through your own fault (you did not pay out the prize, you changed the rules mid-contest, and so on).

How to avoid it ​

• Give people time. Under 24 hours for anything non-trivial is too little.
• Match the prize to the effort. A 5-minute selfie for $500 will draw a crowd; a 10-hour video for $20 will not.
• Be specific in the terms. "Best content" gets you spam; "a 30-second vertical video of X in the style of Y" gets you real submissions.
• Pick the right category. Narrow categories have a smaller audience, but a relevant one.

Find where a participant stopped ​

Ask someone from the target audience to open the task and explain what to do. If the file will not open, fix access. If the criterion is unclear, clarify it. If the work is clear but nobody accepts, compare effort, publication conditions and reward with other available tasks.

Do not rewrite expectations retroactively. Remove one barrier in the next launch and check the result. An unspent refund applies to a deposited wallet-backed budget; the platform cannot refund money it never received in an organizer-direct arrangement.
